Brian
is a graduate of the University of California at Berkeley (BS Bioengineering,
MS Electrical Engineering and Computer Science) and has been a consultant
and developer for over 25 years. Among other projects, he developed the
Windows version of TagWrite® for Zandar
Corporation, the TUBES control program for Pneumatic
Tube Products and the software which made Clarke Home Nursing Service
a completely paperless health care organization. Current professional interests
include embedded control, legacy mainframe hardware interfacing, and document conversion systems
for IBM DCF, Bookmaster, Word Perfect, Microsoft Word, Interleaf and XML.
He is the author of
Windows XP Under the Hood, and is coauthor and
contributor to several computer books including
Special Edition Using Microsoft Windows Vista,
Windows XP Home Edition,
Windows XP Professional and
Windows 2000 Professional.
His personal interests include snowboarding, mountain biking, hiking, camping and backpacking,
and vintage computers, e.g. the IBM 1130.
He also works with Lutherans Concerned
and St. Paul Lutheran Church.
A backyard wood-fired brick oven was built.
